This diary will be written about twice monthly during the summer by Clare to keep you updated with what is happening with the crops, people and wildlife on the farm and anything else we feel maybe of interest.

We have a Bauer Irrigator which during the dry weather will move up and down the farm 3 times a day to water crops. Well imagine Mariusz's surprise when he opened the safety cover to reveal some bits of hair and grass material collecting so he cleared it out only to find it had been replaced by the next day!! So he left it and eventually it became apparent this was a nest and then eggs appeared so although the iirrigator moved about the farm the Pied Wagtail was still able to locate it

We have made it through to the final of Farmers Weekly Countrside Farmer of the Year Competition with the results being announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Oct 6th.  I will have to buy a pair of high heeled wellies to dress for the occasion!!!
We have had 20 Lapwing and 11 Ringed Plover chicks hatch this year and 1 Skylark chick. The Red Legged Partridge brood from last year are still in residence but did not seem to breed and one downside is they seem to thoroughly enjoy eating the Dill!!!
I came upon this happy family of Swans in our lake area whilst trying to get a photo of the Kingfishers (not quick enough to get a shot)
